The meeting point is Pisa airport at 12.30pm on the start date of your tour. If you cannot meet at this time, please contact us and we shall make alternative arrangements.
From the meeting point you will be taken by the support vehicle to the DucatiTours base for a briefing and allocation of bikes.
There are changing facilities available and there will be time to sort out any small items you would like to carry with you.
When the group is ready we shall set off for an (approx.) 3 hour circular ride through the hills to the north of Lucca before returning to our selected hotel on the outskirts of Lucca.
If any riders require items such as radio based intercoms, maps or road books, please let us know before your arrival. We advise all participants to bring a mobile phone that will work in Italy.
Dinner is provided as part of the tour price in Lucca's historic centre. (Please remember drinking and riding is strictly not tolerated!)
The precise time for morning starts will be agreed by the group at the inital briefing but we generally don't get started too early!
The second days ride only covers about 100km as the crow flies. We however are not crows and, as Ducati riders, will be taking a more indirect route. The route takes in rolling hills, riding through a mix of forested, agricultural and vineyard covered landscapes. A lunch break is generally held near Massa Marittima before we head into the Siena area and the opportunity to look around the city if anyone is interested. The overnight stopover for this evening and the 3rd night is at one of our favourite hotels near the walled fortress city of Monteriggioni.
The next day may be used as a rest day or there will be the option of following the guide for local circuits. The Same hotel is used for the 3rd night. The tour guide will be leading a circular ride through the heart of the Chianti area famous for centuries for its natural beauty and the limitless inspiration that it has lent to the world's artists.
We travel south through the Crete Senese and to another very popular wine region around Montalcino where we will stop for lunch. The afternoon route sees us cross the northern tip of Umbria before passing back into Tuscany for our next overnight stop just outside of Cortona.
The last full day takes in a zig-zag route back towards Lucca passing south of Florence, round Vinci (birthplace of a certain Leonardo), past Pistoia and through the foothills of the Apennines. A farewell dinner is organised (included in the tour price) in one of Lucca's finest restaurants with no need to ride the bikes afterwards.
The final morning bikes are returned to the DucatiTours' base and all participants are transported back to the airport (or any other local location if your holiday is not ending here).
